Paper Christmas Trees!

Need a craft to keep the kids busy when it is too cold to go out? 

Check out these super easy paper trees from Parents Magazine

Instructions:

1.  Using different-size circle punches, have the kids punch circles from different shades of green cardstock or scrapbook paper.   You can also use scissors to cut the circles.

2.  Using a standard hole punch, have them make the "ornaments" from various bright colors of paper. 

3.  Use glue stick to glue green circles together in a triangular shape (to resemble a Christmas tree). 

4.  Glue small colored dots all over green circles as ornaments. 

5.  Punch or cut a star for the tree topper; glue to the top of tree. 

6.  Clip a clothespin to the bottom as the trunk.  You can also glue a ribbon hoop in the back and hang them in your tree!

Thanksgiving Celebration!

 This was our first official Thanksgiving celebration at our house! I want to share some pictures of how things turned out:

A Simple yet elegant table setting: White hydrangeas, craft paper table runner, red delicious apples, crabapples in brown paper bags and large glass votives with white candles and stones.  All came together for an elegant rustic look.

Remember the paper turkey idea from One Charming Party? I made it, but did not fill it up with popcorn...instead I let the kids decorate it with markers!  they loved it, and kept them occupied while we finished cooking :)  

And finally the star of the night! gobble, gobble...

Tooth Deposit Certificate!

My son has lost three baby teeth in the last month! I designed this certificate to keep track of when, how and all the little details about each tooth. 

Like it? Print a couple for yourselves and keep them handy for when that baby tooth falls out!

Kids Artwork Display!

My children bring home the cutest artwork from school, but it is impossible to keep all of them.  I had read somewhere about scanning or taking pictures of the artwork before recycling it, and had I been doing that for a while.  Today I came across the best use for those pictures and I know all of you are going to LOVE IT as much as I did!
Jen from  jengrantmorris.blogspot.com took the pictures of her kids artwork and created a photo collage with them...put them in simple Ikea frames and hanged them in her kids bedroom...the result: modern and clutter free! 
If you are obsessed with organizing like I am: you are going to do a happy dance after you see this pictures :)

DIY: Hair Clip Organizers

I have been looking for ways to organize my daughter's hair goods and came across these ideas!

These are the kind I have for my daughter, but she has  too many clips and they don't fit anymore!!

This hair clip organizer by Tonya Stabb is made out of  canvas and ribbon.  It will keep all of your little girl's hair clips in place and serve as room decor at the same time.  Check out the tutorial here

Gift In a Jar: Classic Cocoa

Looking for a homemade gift that everybody will love?  Try this recipe for yummy hot cocoa in a jar.

Ingredients

• 1 quart size jar (12 servings)
• 1 cup granulated sugar
• 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
• 1 cup powdered milk
• 1/2 teaspoon salt 
• 1/2 cup miniature chocolate chips
• 1/2 cup miniature marshmallows

Preparation

• Layer the ingredients for homemade cocoa in the jar, add a ribbon and a tag, and you have a simple but stylish gift. On the back of the tag, write: "Mix contents in a large bowl. For each serving, place 1/3 cup cocoa mix in a mug and stir in 1 cup boiling water. Store remaining mix in airtight container.

You can make smaller batches of this recipe...just keep the proportions of the ingredients.

Equestrian Party Pictures!
